TÜBİTAK grants are project-based R&D and innovation funding from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK). They combine non-repayable grants with tax advantages and are among the country’s most comprehensive technology financing tools. Choosing the right programme and preparing an application to the standard the institution expects are what let companies benefit in full.

TÜBİTAK grants for companies in Türkiye’s industrial hubs
Industrial clusters, such as Ankara’s defence and software ecosystem, Bursa’s automotive suppliers and Kocaeli’s chemicals and machinery firms, are direct targets of TÜBİTAK’s sector-based calls. SMEs and scale-ups in these regions gain a real advantage when they can express their technical capability in the language of a project proposal.
Each TÜBİTAK programme offers different support rates and budget ceilings depending on company size, the project’s technology readiness level and the sector. Choosing the programme is therefore the first decision, and it shapes everything that follows.

How to apply for TÜBİTAK grants: the critical steps
Applying is much more than filling in a form. Reviewers judge whether you present the project’s originality, technical capability and budget justification as one coherent case. These steps decide whether the process is built correctly:
- Programme matching: your R&D capacity, project topic and size point to the right programme, and choosing the wrong one costs time and money.
- Pre-feasibility: do not start the file until the technical goal, the current technology readiness level and the expected outputs are clear.
- Budget design: the justification for staff, machinery and equipment, materials and services is the section reviewers scrutinise most.
- Writing for the reviewers: proposals written in the language of a panel of academic reviewers and industry experts score far higher than generic ones.
- Monitoring and reporting: once support is approved, on-time interim reports, expense documents and technical outputs keep payments flowing.
The most common application mistakes
Repeated mistakes in inexperienced applications get fundable projects rejected. The main ones are a weak case for originality, unjustified budget items and claims of technological innovation with no literature review behind them. Missed call deadlines and incomplete paperwork also end many applications before they start.
FIX joins the process before any spending is planned, so invoices, contracts and the project structure are designed to be grant-eligible from day one. The file then reaches the institution already at the standard the reviewers look for.
